Out-of-Body Experiences
Samantha Treasure explores the science and mystery of Out-of-Body Experiences (OBEs)...from OBE entities, ghosts, doppelgangers, and alien encounters to “stealth mode,” veridical experiences, and the blue tint some experiencers report. We’ll also explore OBEs among Siberian shamans, why we travel to certain places, and how the Screen Age may be changing the OBE experience.
After experiencing out-of-body experiences (OBEs), Samantha Lee Treasure trained to become a medical anthropologist to explore this subject cross-culturally and destigmatize (but not demystify) OBEs. She's been giving talks on this subject internationally since 2013, has conducted studies and fieldwork on the subject in the UK, Korea and Siberia, and participated in neuroscience experiments as both a research assistant and subject. She's currently a volunteer at the Spiritual Crisis Network, and a volunteer researcher affiliated with the University of Virginia's Division of Perceptual Studies, where she’s conducting research on OBE entities. In 2025, she published her book Out-of-Body Experiences: Explorations and Encounters with the Astral Plane (2025), which explores the history, science and anthropology of this experience, as well as some of its lesser-known and mysterious aspects.
